Through the excellent MDOT Adopt A Highway program, we made substantial progress along our section of U.S. 31 (Apple Ave. to Holton Rd.). Together, we removed a staggering 900 lbs of trash - 45 full bags—bringing our total haul to over 2,000 lbs (a metric ton) and 101 bags collected from just over 2 miles of roadway (outside lane only).
Thank you to our Stewards; Dylan and Elizabeth Nuttle, Joey, Martin, Ryan, and Cris who came out to help! A heartfelt thank you to Juan at Borculo Construction for donating your trailer for use and the Grand Haven Elks Lodge #1200 for your generous financial donation, your support has allowed The Forgotten Stewardship to continue our work!

At The Forgotten Stewardship we love that folks we have supported in the past know that they can depend on us, to be a helping hand for needs they have no matter how big or small.

Margaret Danielson - Basement Hand Rail
September 3rd, 2025 // Grand Haven, MI
Strong communities are built on the foundation of kindness, connection, and mutual support. When we take the time to assist our neighbors—whether it’s lending a hand with daily tasks, offering a listening ear, or stepping in during moments of hardship—we create a sense of trust and belonging that strengthens the whole community.
Thanks, Dan/Audra, for introducing us to Margaret Danielson. It was a pleasure helping her by installing a second-hand rail so she can continue getting up and down her stairs safely to do laundry. Also, thank you for setting the example for us to emulate with your selfless service to your neighbors; you further demonstrate how we can build stronger, more sustainable communities.
Sharm Groh - Power Washing & Yard Clean Up
September 2nd, 2025 // Grand Haven, MI
Since facing health complications and being on a fixed income, Sharm Groh has needed help maintaining her yard and other chores. The Forgotten Stewardship, with the help of NeighborLink, saw her request for assistance, and we were happy to lend a helping hand. We cleaned up the front and back yard, trimming the overgrown vegetation, and identified that her deck needed some TLC.
She agreed, so we went and got our power washer and gave her deck a thorough cleaning, which will allow us to stain it at a later date. We were thrilled with the results, and her deck will continue to serve her, her friends, and her family.

Shari Jackson - Storm Clean Up & Hand Rail
June 23rd, 2025 // Grand Haven, MI
Because of a stroke and a recent hit-and-run, Shari Jackson needed a handrail installed on the side entrance to her home that would improve her ability to navigate in and out of the house safely. We want to help our neighbors live independently in their homes at all costs and will strive to make that a safe and effective option.
Additionally, her yard needed a fresh cut, and a recent storm had knocked down a hefty Locus branch, which we happily took care of too.
Bobbie Mayfield - Roof Tarp & Yard Clean Up
June 11th, 2025 // Muskegon Heights, MI
What a gift it was to spend time with Bobbie—helping her face some of the challenges on the property she’s lovingly called home for the past 27 years. These moments remind us why we do what we do. At the core of it all is a simple, powerful belief: we show up for one another with no judgment, just compassion, time, and willing hands. Neighbor to neighbor. Heart to heart.
A heartfelt thank-you to Love INC of Muskegon and NeighborLink Fort Wayne, your dedication and selfless work are clearing the path for all of us to serve more boldly and more beautifully. You're lighting the way.
