Adopt-A-Highway Trash Clean Up

Project: Through the excellent MDOT Adopt A Highway program, we made substantial progress along our section of U.S. 31 (Apple Ave. to Holton Rd.). Together, we removed a staggering 900 lbs of trash - 45 full bags—bringing our total haul to over 2,000 lbs (a metric ton) and 101 bags collected from just over 2 miles of roadway (outside lane only).

Thank you to our Stewards; Dylan and Elizabeth Nuttle, Joey, Martin, Ryan, and Cris who came out to help! A heartfelt thank you to Juan at Borculo Construction for donating your trailer for use and the Grand Haven Elks Lodge #1200 for your generous financial donation, your support has allowed The Forgotten Stewardship to continue our work!

Here at The Forgotten Stewardship, we're proud of the impact—but sobered by the reality. The condition of this stretch of highway is worse than we've seen in years. Honestly, I haven’t seen this much roadside debris since my time in Kuwait. That’s not a comparison we should ever have to make.

We’re not here to judge—just to call on everyone: Please take responsibility for your spaces. Dispose of your waste properly. Encourage your communities to care. Earth gives us so much; keeping her clean is the least we can do in return.

Let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep cleaning up. Together, we can make stewardship unforgettable.
