1st Annual - Wood For Warriors
Project: This Labor Day weekend, The Forgotten Stewardship was blessed with the opportunity to help Wood For Warriors in Hickory, NC, cut, split, stack, and deliver firewood. This event was not only a blessing to the 86 Veterans they currently serve, but also to everyone putting in the blood, sweat, and tears processing it. Something about turning sustainably sourced lumber into heat for Veterans warms the soul, especially when surrounded by selfless servants, and boy, were there a bunch, which was a thing of beauty all on its own. Everyone turned the chaos that could have been into a fine-tuned chainsaw ready to get to work and make some sawdust.
A big thank you to LogOX for using your TimberOx Summit log splitters. We put them to the test, and boy, oh boy, did they deliver. Tommy and Operation Rising Sun, working alongside you for such a great cause, was incredible. S&S Trailers Sales of Ness City, KS, your generosity continues to be paid forward, this time to Veterans using your Delco trailer, which delivered multiple loads of firewood. Additionally, the electrolyte packs provided by LMNT were a game-changer for that delicious NC heat. Thanks for keeping us going. To all the other beautiful souls we met and broke bread with (The Food Was SO GOOD), you are a blessing and a gift, and we are already looking forward to next year!
We are beyond grateful to our Stewards who made the trip to put in the work: Lance, Gayla and family, Dan and Rachel Eaton, Dylan, Elizabeth, and Michele Nuttle.
